What Owed is
Owed is an information service that scans your financial profile against public databases and curated rule sets to identify money you may be entitled to claim — unclaimed property, forgotten retirement accounts, missed tax credits, class-action settlements, and similar opportunities. We then give you the instructions to claim that money yourself.
Owed is not a bank, law firm, or financial advisor. We do not provide legal, tax, or investment advice. Information we generate is for educational purposes only — confirm with a qualified professional before acting on it.
Eligibility
You must be (a) at least 18 years old, (b) a US resident, and (c) legally able to enter contracts in your state.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Provide accurate information when you sign up and during onboarding — inaccurate inputs lead to less useful scan results. You may close your account at any time from Settings.
Pricing
- Unlock fee: $49 one-time. Unlocks the full details (sources, dollar amounts, claim instructions) of every category scanned for you. Without unlock you see the aggregate estimate but not the per-category breakdown.
- Annual Re-Scan: $29 per year (optional). If you opt in at checkout, we automatically re-scan your profile every January when new tax credits, settlement filings, and eligibility windows open. Cancel anytime from Settings.
- Concierge partners: Some categories (Property Tax appeals via Ownwell, 401(k) rollovers via Capitalize) refer you to specialist partners who charge their own fee (typically 25-30% of recovered amount). Those fees are paid to the partner, not to Owed.
Refund policy
30-day money-back guarantee. If you are unsatisfied with your unlock for any reason, email us at support@owed.app within 30 days of payment for a full refund. No questions asked.
Annual Re-Scan refunds are pro-rated and processed within 7 days of cancellation.
We do not custody your money
Owed never receives or holds any of the money you recover. All claims you file go directly to the state, federal agency, or third party that owes you — payments flow straight to your bank account or address. We are not a money transmitter and do not handle client funds.
Accuracy and no guarantee
Our scanners estimate the value you may be entitled to based on statistical models and public-data lookups. Actual amounts depend on factors we cannot verify (your exact balance, eligibility at the moment of claim, court rulings, etc.). We label every finding with a confidence category (Confirmed ≥95%, Probable 70-94%, Possible <70%) so you can judge each one. We do not guarantee a specific recovery amount.
What you may not do
- Submit information that is not about you (or, for Family Heritage, about deceased relatives whose data you have legitimate rights over as heir, spouse, or estate representative).
- Use the service to harass, defraud, or violate the rights of others.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the service.
- Resell or sublicense the scan results to others.
Termination
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, attempt fraud, or otherwise compromise the service. You may also close your account at any time. If we close your account for cause, unlock fees are non-refundable (outside the 30-day window).

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OWED'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless your state of residence requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active accounts by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
